what I learned this week...

...having a soccer-free weekend does not mean you'll be lounging around:

- a visit from friends
- pumpkinville (I learned there is something called a peanut pumpkin. See bottom right of collage - looks like peanut shells are growing on top of the pumpkin - pretty cool!)
- 3 sets of teeth cleaned
- including one 4 y.o. mouth that was very unhappy (i.e., everyone could hear him) about being in the chair
- 2 teeth extracted
- 1 birthday party of 4-5 year olds at an inflatable bounce house
- 1 20th high school reunion
- a visit from the Tooth Fairy
- 1 birthday dinner for Gram including a surprise visit from cousins

Photobucket

...exploring your own town is fun. CG and I spent last Thursday walking around our downtown area and there are a lot of fun stores. I love our historical downtown. Makes me realize I need to spend more time getting to know my town.

...20 years later, some things never change. My reunion was fun. I saw the girls I wanted to see. They are the girls I know I'll see without having the need for a reunion to get us together. One friend commented that once the initial "oh my gosh, it's so good to see you's" were over, you looked around and everyone was back at their lunch tables again. I will say that we all look pretty good despite some of the husbands referring to us as "cougars". It was the running joke that it was Cougar Town, I'd say we're still cubs ;)

Check out what I've learned and come share your lessons at Musings of a Housewife's What I learned this week.

You always have the cutest pictures and collages of your kids!!

So, did you dance the night away at your reunion?

Sounds like you had an excellent week - I went to my 5 year reunion and it was just weird. I think 5 years is too soon for a "reunion" it's like, "We just left." Now we're coming up on 10 years and I don't think I could justify the travel. But I'll probably go to the 20 year.

Great photos!

I went to my 20 year last year and it was so fun.

Weekends are just never free anymore, are they?

Good to hear that you enjoyed the reunion. I've never thought much about going to mine - my 20 year is on a few more years. I'll have to think on that one! :)

A peanut pumpkin? Interesting!
You have quite a list of things. Sounds fun for a mom. How was the tooth fairy's visit? :)

What a fun weekend Jen! I LOVE the peanut pumpkin! How cool is that? Gary always says he loves Cougars. I tell him to go marry one then since I am WAY (well, like 3 years anyway) younger : )

Looks like it was a great weekend. Didn't know the friends were in town--glad you had fun.

Love the peanut pumpkin. Might have to get one of those...

Laughing at your comment about your high school reunion...almost like I pictured it would be. Those that we wanted to stay in touch with...we have...friends for life.

Cute pumpkin pictures.

OK, the pumpkin kind of freaks me out. It looks sort of like a brain? I don;t think I could handle having a pumpkin brain on my front doorstep. (No, I don't really go to haunted houses either...)

Sounds like you had a great weekend - busy but fun.

I've never heard of or seen a peanut pumpkin until now. Neat! Why is it that everybody else seem to find these big pumpkins except me? As big as Texas is, I can't seem to find any big pumpkins in this state. Ok, maybe just my area. LOL

Glad your son's teeth extraction went well. I'm sure the tooth fairy was very generous. =)
