what I learned this week...

+ CG is quite the conversationalist these days. Our dinner conversations have been peppered with no less than 50 hey Daddy's...each time with a new story or anecdote or question. He is so inquisitive these days. I am proud he's stepping out of his shell. I even caught him talking to the lady checking out in front of us at Costco. He had to explain that they (she had 3 boys) didn't have a sister but he had one and one brother. He chatted with her boys until they left. It was pretty cute.

+ Concessions for the $1 movie will cost more than the tickets. Duh! But what's a movie without fresh popcorn?

+ CG is also quite sensitive. The $1 movie was The Tale of Desperaux which was kind of dark movie for little ones. He was so concerned about the Queen - lots of questions as to what happened to her and why. He cried at the end and couldn't tell me why. His answer "my eyes are just sad." Doesn't that just melt your heart?

+ In my quest to not let the kids develop summer brain, they have to complete 5 pages of a workbook before any electronics are turned on. Well, appears I have a big case of summer-itis. KK asked for help in converting cups to pints to quarts. I did not remember how to convert so I turned to google and found this handy graphic.

I found the answer at the kitchn:

2 Cups in a Pint
2 Pints in a Quart
4 Quarts in a Gallon

And so two "C's" fit inside a "P," two "P's" fit inside a "Q," and four "Q's" fit inside a big, enormous "G."

+ I also learned that having graphics and charts to explain things make sense to me. I'm not sure what learning styles my kids favor yet but graphics work for me.

+ Visits from out-of-town friends are a breath of fresh air. It was such a treat to have our friends stay with us, especially since there is a new 4-month old addition who smiles back at you all.the.time.

+ It's good to have a group of friends and all the children get along so well. It makes for such a pleasant evening.

+ It's hard to putt-putt with a purse over your shoulder. Leave the purse in the car. Yup. I'm blaming my lousy putt-putt game on my purse. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Check out what I've learned and come share your lessons at Musings of a Housewife's What I learned this week.

oh my eyes are sad? break your heart!

I am a visual/doer learner. If I write it, or draw it down, I get it.

"My eyes are sad"--my heart just broke a little.

You're clearly a visual learner. Me, I need everything explained in words. But even I can understand that graphic!

I agree about the movies, but I would rather pay for popcorn at the dollar show than the 9 dollar show... We love the dollar movies.
Very cool graphics. I am a visual learner too.

Love the $1 movies (although haven't been to one in awhile). We always stock up on the candy & soda at Walgreens and buy the popcorn at the movies..LOL!

We don't have quarts etc here - so I just learned something new from you too!

My lessons are finally up.

Enjoyed your blog. "Sad eyes" brought back memories of when my boy was little. He cried when we watched Stewart Little:-)
